Here’s something you may not know about me: I was fascinated by kaleidoscopes when I was a child, and I would often spend quite a lot of time marveling at the wonderful images. Now that I’m an adult, I can relive those days not with real-life kaleidoscope but with a specialized tool such as ArtScope. This application is a kaleidoscope creator, a tool that you can use to create kaleidoscope-like images.

ArtScope provides support for any 32- or 64-bit Windows edition from Windows XP and Vista up to Windows 8.1 and 10. To get ArtScope up and running, you’ll have to download an archive, extract its contents, and run the ArtScope MSI installer. Once you do that, a setup wizard will show up and guide you through all the steps you need to take to install ArtScope on your Windows PC.

The first time you run ArtScope, you’ll be asked to enter a license key. If you don’t have one, a trial license key will be generated for you. You’ll have a week at your disposal to use ArtScope for free, for evaluation purposes. Once that trial period expires, you’ll have to buy a license to keep using ArtScope.

The easiest way to get started with ArtScope is to load one of the many samples that come bundled with the application. Once you’ve loaded a sample, press the Play button to run it. The Play button is the one that looks just like ArtScope’s icon. If you can’t spot it, take a look at the video that accompanies this article and you’ll see what button you have to press to initiate the playback.

The Help file that accompanies ArtScope provides useful information on how to use this application to create kaleidoscope images. The Quick Start page on ArtScope’s official website also provides useful information on how to use this application. Make sure to check them out if you need help with ArtScope.

Create your own kaleidoscope-like images with ArtScope.

Pros

Support is provided for any Windows edition from XP up to 10; installing ArtScope on a Windows PC is a simple task. Multiple samples come bundled with ArtScope; load one to get a quick idea of what can be achieved with this application. Once you’ve figured out the interface, you can use ArtScope to create your own kaleidoscope-like images.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of one week.
